Building on the success of our video camera detection system at Chisholm, Alberta, FPInnovations has partnered with Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development (ESRD) to design and assemble a video camera system that would monitor an area that is blind from the Athabasca Fire Lookout; monitor the area seen from the fire lookout during the shoulder season; and monitor the fire lookout itself year-round. The system will relay live images from video cameras, which can be controlled remotely by a user, back to the fire lookout and to the nearest fire centre.
