Abstract

Widespread acceptance of water-enhancing gel by wildfire agencies in Canada is limited by a lack of knowledge of its effectiveness. Supported by our advisory committee members (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, ICL Performance Products, Thermo-Gel Technologies, Eco Fire Solutions, Coulson Group, Conair Aviation, and CN Rail), FPInnovations is using a case study approach to document the effectiveness of water-enhancing gel on wildfires.

In August 2013, we had an opportunity to examine the use of a low mix-ratio gel product on wildfires with the AT-802 Fire Boss in Quesnel, British Columbia.
