Abstract

FPInnovations has completed 3 experimental burns in lightly thinned pine stands and has documented two wildfires that have entered treated areas in Saskatchewan. Much data and learnings have come from these tests and the treatments have shown positive results based on the conditions which the fires burned at, but more burns are required at high fire weather percentiles as experienced in BC in 2021, where a number of treatment areas were impacted with varying results. Plots will be established in the NWT and possibly Pelican Mountain research area.
