Abstract

At the request of Alberta Sustainable Resource Development we continued the evaluation of Envirovision’s ForestWatch automated smoke detection system with a three-year operational trial beginning in 2005. Researchers installed and operated a small-scale network of ten cameras placed on five towers in the Foothills Wildfire Management Area. We documented the performance, reliability, cost and the potential for implementation into Alberta’s fire detection program. The trial ended in the fall of 2007.

This was a directed research project and the results belong to the Government of Alberta. Please contact Ray Ault for details.
