Abstract

Portable campfires use propane to imitate flames from a natural fire pit and are difficult to classify during a fire ban event as they have characteristics of both wood fires and propane stoves. FPInnovations Wildfire researchers were asked to examine portable propane campfire units and evaluate the potential for ignition of surrounding fuels during periods of high fire hazards.
