These embers are referred to as \u201chotspots\u201d and can result in a fire restart if not detected and extinguished. Before AAF contracts helicopter companies for scanning operations, they must demonstrate an ability to find and map hotspots on a grid in Hinton as part of a qualification process. Currently, hotspot targets on the grid are a possible source of unintended wildfire.
