Abstract

In 2004, FPInnovations purchased a terra torch to use as an ignition source for experimental burns. Since then, the system has also been used by Parks Canada and Alberta Sustainable Resource Development to ignite several prescribed burns. The system requires that gasoline be pre-mixed with Flash21 in a separate drum. This design created several problems, so in 2007, research began into the re-design of the terra torch. FPInnovations hired a contractor in January of 2012 to build an operational ATV terra torch with in-line mixing technology.
